Coaching Philosophy

To develop my players to their highest potential both in basketball and in life.
To develop proper footwork in all players that will allow them to succeed at higher basketball levels.
To teach and develop basketball IQ.
To develop each player’s ability to communicate with teammates and coaches.

Team Goals

  1. Most importantly: Players to have fun
  2. Develop each player to their fullest potential on and off the courts
  3. Assist in creating bonds between teammates and coaches to develop chemistry 
  4. Win Division II States
  5. Compete to our highest potential at nationals and other competitive tournaments


Team Expectations 

  1. Parents to be parents, not coaches
  2. Cheering for your daughters is important and yields greater success
  3. Players to bond outside of basketball (½ a month)
  4. Respect not only for the coaches, but for each other, your daughters, the organization and most importantly yourself
  5. Open communication if/ when there is a problem
  6. Sportsmanship
  7. Players = HEAT
    1. Hustle
    2. Effort
    3. Attitude
    4. Teamwork
  8. Players to train outside of practice preferably with Foundation

About the Coach 


​Coach Jess grew up in the city of Petersburg, Va attending Petersburg's Public Schools until high school where she attending Appomattox Regional Governor's School for the Arts and Technology. She is currently a sophomore mechanical engineering major at Virginia Commonwealth University.

​Coach Jess started playing AAU with James River when she was in six grade in 2009. Her senior year of high school 2016 she assisted in leading her team to the State Championship where they lost by five. She began to coach with James River at the age of 17 in February 2016.
