
The James
River Athletic Club (JRAC), the premier girls’ AAU organization in the
Richmond area, is beginning its’ 23rd season. As the
first AAU program for girls in the Richmond Metro Area, the club
continues to provide a quality basketball program for all girls. JRAC
began with 3 teams in 1985 and now fields up to 12 teams with players
ranging in age from 10-17. JRAC offers girls an opportunity to play at
Regional, State, and National competitions every year. It also provides
playing time in fall and summer leagues, instruction at quality clinics,
and individual instruction by a staff of outstanding coaches.
JRAC has
had over 110 former players participate at the collegiate level
throughout the United States. JRAC alumni have played at the University
of Virginia, the University of Maryland, the University of Richmond,
VCU, Leigh High, William & Mary, Virginia Wesleyan, UNC Wilmington,
Longwood, Drexel, Holy Cross, Randolph Macon, Loyola of Maryland, the
Naval Academy, Coppin State, Savannah College, Swarthmore, and UNC
Pembroke.

Statement
The purpose of James River Athletic Club
(JRAC) is to increase opportunities for
amateur girls basketball competition and
skill development in the greater Richmond,
VA area; to enhance the physical, mental and
moral development of amateur athletes; and
to promote good sportsmanship, good
citizenship and safety. JRAC is
constantly striving to maintain its position
as one of the premiere nonprofit
organization for the development of girls’
basketball in the State of Virginia.
The James River Athletic Club basketball
program forms teams that participate in AAU
and U.S. Junior Nationals tournaments, give
clinics, skill sessions and development
programs to help the athlete aspire to the
best of their ability. The major goal of the
program is player development. When a player
comes into the program, they leave a better
player and a better person.
